ABOUT THE SHOW

Set at the weekly meeting of Romantics Anonymous, Briane’s latest storytelling show, give him a platform to share his funny, moving and sometimes bittersweet attempts to find that most allusive of quests, true love.  Playing off of the group’s Facilitator Briane looks back and looks forward as he tries to cure himself of a trait that inhibits his growth. Other members attending will be encouraged to share their stories, but those additional moments will be limited.


Recovering Romantic, was premiered at the 2024 Replay Story Fest and workshopped at the Red Sand Castle Theatre in Toronto, on August 4th.


After a 20-year hiatus from performing Briane returned tot eh stage in 2013 with his first one-person storytelling show “Confessions of an Operatic Mute” a pick of the Toronto Fringe Festival, after which 
Halifax. His other Fringe Shows credits include – Now Where was I? a series of his collected short stories; Izzy and the Naz, with Izzy Ferguson and But That’s Another Story, an on-line presentation of his monthly show that he co-hosts and co-produces with Christel Bartelse and is presented live each month at the Rivoli in Toronto.

MARITIMES CONNECTION

Briane has had a long relationship with the Maritime Provinces.  Beginning with his Canadian Opera Company touring days as assistant stage manager and voiceless performer as the Other Servant in Cosi Fan Tutte  and the Head Waiter in La Boheme,  his bonds with Down East intensified four decades ago when he helped create unique, interactive dinner theatre, first in Summerside and Charlottetown and Summerside PEI, followed by bringing his style of musical theatre to Halifax with the opening of the Grafton Street Dinner Theatre.

 

Briane continued to write and direct show for the first five years of Grafton but when he realized that there were so many talented creators who developed here, he passed on the torch, returning when needed and supervising new venues that opened in New Brunswick.

 

In 2015 he toured his Toronto “Pick of the Fringe” production “Confessions of an Operatic Mute” to the then Atlantic Fringe Festival.

BRIANE NASIMOK

Briane Nasimok has been referred to as a true Renaissance Man, having survived decades working al almost all arts disciplines, without take a day job. Our as his Uncle Sid believes, he cannot keep a job.
 

Briane’s resume includes; featured act at Yuk Yuk and the recipient of a Canadian comedy Award; improvisation performer, coach of the Kids in the Hall and part of the Toronto winning Canadian Invitational Improv Championships; freelance writer for the Canadian magazine and baseball stringer for United Press International; founding writer and director of the Grafton Street Dinner Theatre; writer and producer at YTV with credits on Uh Oh, nanaLan’, NBA Dunk Street and the YTV Achievement Awards; Gemini nominated comedy writer on numerous projects including Canada’s Walk of Fame, Canadian Screen Awards and Sesame Park; luncheon guest and Canada’s Foremost Operatic Mute, which was the basis of his touring Fringe Festival favourite, “Confession of an Operatic Mute”, which played at the Atlantic Fringe Festival in 2015.
 

A decade ago, Briane returned to the stage as a storyteller, appearing live and online on stages 
across North America, he has appeared three times at the Toronto International Story Telling Festival and is now bringing his third one-man show “Briane Nasimok, Recovering Romantic” to the 2024 Atlantic Fringe Festival.
