CONFESSIONS OF AN OPERATIC MUTE
After “retiring” from performing for 15 years (well not completely), while working on the Siminovitch Prize for Theatre, Briane was asked why he wasn’t on stage anymore. His response “Uh, I don’t know”.
Soon after that came a note from the University formerly known as Ryerson, offering a class in storytelling. Thinking it was a sign, Briane signed up and at the class presentation he shared a 15-minute story.
That turned into a 30 minute presentation at the Totnes, England, SouloTheatre gathering and a 55 minute show that has since toured Canadian Fringe Festivals.
Briane’s favourite review came from Dr. Lou Siminovitch, the namesake of the Theatre prize whose comment was “shit it was better than I thought.
